FIRST CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR AT VISTA LAND

Christmas and New Year are the best occasions to bring together office colleagues. It is usually observed that Christmas is celebrated at least a week in advance. But in the case of my new company, it is quite different from the usual.

Vista Residences Inc. is my second company since I graduated from BS Architecture. My first venture to the corporate world. And eventually my first job as a licensed architect. I started in the company 2 weeks before December, so it's obvious that everyone in the office is looking forward for the Christmas season. Everyone is talking about MBV Party, Christmas parties, night-outs which I can't relate at first, until I experienced them all in consecutive weeks.

MBV PARTY
This is the first party I attended in Vistaland. It is the biggest and the grandest party everyone is looking forward, because it is the time of the year when the whole Vistaland team gather and celebrate MBV's (Mr. Manny B. Villar) Birthday Party as one. Different divisions of Vistaland, from Camella, Crown Asia, Brittany, Lumina, Carizza, Mandalay, Vista Central and Vista Residences we're grouped and competed for various games in the morning.

We have started the morning with a fun run at Vista City. Everyone from the team must participate in the run, unless you are exempted (with medical certification). You will encounter different challenges
along the route such as running on sand and tires which adds thrill on the run.

After the fun run, exciting games await for every team to compete for. There is a total of 5 games which need representatives from every teams. This is a point system basis, and the team who will garner the highest point will be the champion.

After the games, we had our breakfast and listen to the talk of our big boss (and birthday celebrant) Mr. Manny B. Villar. He shared all his visions, plans and suggestions to make Vista Land remains at No. 1 spot. We also had photo ops per division with the big boss.

We're ready for the patintero! Red Team all the way!
Now you know why we are disqualified from this game. Haha.
And I'm part of the rafting. Go Red Team!
That's my team. Very supportive Team.
Sir Marwin at it's finest. That's why he's one of the most humble bosses in Vista, his feet are not the only ones he keep on the ground. Peace Sir!

I'm fast yet not so furious!
After the tiring morning activities, we had at least 4 hours to prepare for the MBV Night Party with a theme of “Speed of Lights”. We have stayed in Vista City to take some rest and prepare for the night. We travelled from Las Pinas to PICC for the night event. This is the time when all of us showcase our fashion style. Everyone wears their best cocktail attire, very different from the haggard looks the morning before. This is also the “Oscars” of Vistaland, because MBV awards the employees with 5 or more years in the company. This is the time everyone is looking forward because MBV gives the much awaited Christmas bonus for the employees.

The next groom este future awardee. Haha.

After the awarding and speech from MBV, it’s time for the “Glow After Party”. Everyone is on their neon colored attire and glowing accessories. We also have special guests: DJ Marc Marasigan and DJ Khai Lim. Everyone partied like there’s no tomorrow! In the dark we glow!

Kainan time!

PLANNING AND INTERIOR DESIGN DEPARTMENT NIGHT OUT
A week after the MBV Party, our Department scheduled our Night out and Christmas Party. The company is allotting a budget for night outs of every department. This time, the newbies (including me) planned and hosted the event.

The Planning and Interior Design Department: Kumpleto po kami! (Si Jaycee kumukuha ng pic)

The venue for this night out is at AVANT (at the Fort), one of VRI’s projects. Thanks to Emily, we had stayed at a 2-Bedroom Unit (Loft type) for free. We only ordered foods at Gerry’s Grill, and shopped at Market! Market! for drinks and snacks.

Russell, Kath and our special guest Dino
Being the hosts of the program, we (the newbies) performed in front of the oldies, showcasing our talent in singing, dancing and acting (with Russell as the director). We also tried to play a brain game (which I forgot the name) but failed to decode on how it was played. We end up playing “Pinoy Henyo” and watching “The Babadook” while taking some tequila shots. After these, with all of us quite drunk, we talked about our past/failed/broken love stories, and got some insights and advices like a pro.

We stayed in AVANT until noon and I can say this was one of the happiest and memorable night out I attended so far and I’m looking forward for a more memorable one. This is the time I got to know more about my officemates, and I can say we really had a great time.

VRI-HRB CHRISTMAS PARTY: ROCK OF AGES
Two days after the night-out, here comes the Christmas Party of VRI-HRB Division with a theme “Rock of Ages”. Different attires were assigned per Department, and 80’s Pop was the attire assigned to HRB Planning and Interior Design. There is also a singing competition “Vista Voice Season 1” with the concept of “The Voice” competition. I was forced to represent the Planning and Interior Design Department together with Alex, and we tried for the blind auditions. I never expected for my contenders to take this competition seriously and without a doubt, we were left behind. We sang “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler and  it is one of my most embarrassing moments because I'm not good at singing. I thought it will be a “no chair turner” performance, but thanks to Mam Shatriya of Admin Department, we still made it for the blind auditions.

We also had Christmas raffles and exchanging of gifts for the year’s Kris Kringle. I got a Philips earphone from my baby and a couple of gifts from my officemates.

VRI-HRB YEAR END PARTY
A week after the Christmas Party, of course we also celebrated our Year End Party and it’s the last time we gather before the 2014 ends. With the theme “Vista Goes Vegas”, the attire is glitter gold and silver tops which made the night more dazzling. The venue is at the poolside of Lauriano de Trevi Towers, one of VRI’s projects and like the Christmas Party, we had raffles, dinner and games. We also looked back on the achievements and milestones of the Division for this year, and look forward for a more challenging and successful year. We lighted some “lusis” to mark the end of the year and the after party overflowed with drinks.

I’ve been in the company for only 1 ½ months and it seems that I’ve been part of it for a long time. I already gained a lot of friends and I also learned many things and had great experiences in the company. And I’m looking forward for more Christmas and New Year in Vista. I had the #VistaBestPartyEver and rooting for more!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
